{"id":245279,"date":"2026-05-27T16:43:19","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T16:43:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/245279\/"},"modified":"2026-05-27T16:43:19","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T16:43:19","slug":"news-12-bronx-man-arrested-after-bronx-subway-shove-sends-rider-onto-tracks-at-woodlawn-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/245279\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Man Arrested After Bronx Subway Shove Sends Rider Onto Tracks At Woodlawn Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A 51-year-old man has been arrested after police say he pushed a straphanger onto the subway tracks at the Woodlawn station in the Bronx Monday night.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Investigators say the incident happened shortly after 7 p.m. on a northbound 4 train platform.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Police say 51-year-old Rafael Escobar shoved a 47-year-old man onto the tracks during what officials describe as a violent encounter near the edge of the platform.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Emergency crews rushed to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital. Authorities say he survived the fall and is expected to recover.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Investigators are still working to determine what led to the push and whether the victim and Escobar knew each other prior to the incident.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The arrest comes as the NYPD says transit crime in the area has decreased compared to last year.
