Rather, this Queen of Britain has passed away from this world at the age of 96. She ruled not only the United Kingdom for 70 years but also 15 Commonwealth nations, including Australia, Canada, and New Zealand. In British history, if anyone ruled for the longest time, it was Queen Elizabeth II.

While the whole world will mourn her death, many very important changes will also begin immediately after her passing. Once again, welcome to the video.

If the Queen had died in London, this operation would have been called “Operation London Bridge.” But because she died in Scotland, the operation is called “Operation Unicorn.” All the events in this operation had already been planned in advance.

The first step in these events is to move her body to London. Since Queen Elizabeth is no longer alive, her son Prince Charles automatically became the King of Britain the very next second.

Although Buckingham Palace has a huge staff, after the Queen’s death most of the staff will be sent on leave. Flags will fly at half-mast, meaning halfway down the pole. Courts will be suspended for two days, and on the day of her funeral there will be a public holiday during which businesses, banks, and shops will remain closed.

All social gatherings at the palace will be canceled, and officials will wear mourning dress codes for several days. Even though Prince Charles became King immediately after the Queen’s death, once most palace staff leave, the Accession Council meeting will take place at St. James’s Palace, where Prince Charles will officially be declared King and will take the oath.

After becoming King, Prince Charles also has the option to change his name. This is one of the rules that applies to the British royal family. A new King can choose a name from his own names. Prince Charles’s full name is Charles Philip Arthur George, so besides “King Charles,” he could also choose names like King Philip, King Arthur, or King George.

Prince Charles had waited his entire life for this moment, something he mentioned in a 2012 interview with The Telegraph. He is already 72 years old, and if something were to happen to him, his son Prince William would become the next King of Britain.

When Prince Charles officially becomes King, his wife Camilla will no longer be called Princess but Queen Consort.

After preparing Queen Elizabeth II’s coffin, it will be placed in Westminster Hall for public viewing so people can pay their respects. Mourning will continue from the Queen’s death until 10 days before the funeral. Since she died on 8 September, her funeral would take place on 17 September 2022. During this period, the public would be allowed to view her coffin for one hour daily.

When Princess Diana died, it is estimated that more than one million bouquets were placed outside Buckingham Palace. People stood in lines for up to 10 hours waiting for their turn.

On the funeral day, Big Ben will ring once at 9:00 a.m., after which a leather cover will be placed over the bell’s hammer so its sound remains soft throughout the day. World leaders will attend the funeral.

After the funeral, Queen Elizabeth II will be buried in the King George VI Memorial Chapel. On that day, the London Stock Exchange will also remain closed, causing significant financial loss to Britain.

In 2011, when Prince William and Kate Middleton got married, there was also a national holiday, which reportedly caused Britain a loss of around six billion pounds. This means the Queen’s funeral day could also cost Britain a similar amount.

After Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, many changes will take place in the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries. The Queen’s portrait on British currency will gradually be replaced. All currency cannot be changed overnight, but new notes will begin printing from the very next day.

Britain’s national anthem, currently “God Save the Queen,” will change to “God Save the King.” Police helmets across Britain will also be updated because they currently bear the Queen’s initials, which will be replaced with King Charles’s initials.

British passports, which currently feature the Queen’s crown, will also be changed to display King Charles’s crown. Finally, even mailboxes—which are not used as much nowadays but still bear the Queen’s royal insignia—will eventually be replaced.

All these changes after the Queen’s death will not take much time because most of the preparations had already been planned while she was alive.
