{"id":246155,"date":"2026-05-28T10:06:28","date_gmt":"2026-05-28T10:06:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/246155\/"},"modified":"2026-05-28T10:06:28","modified_gmt":"2026-05-28T10:06:28","slug":"parris-campbell-suddenly-retries-from-nfl-at-28","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/246155\/","title":{"rendered":"Parris Campbell suddenly retries from NFL at 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Parris Campbell is calling it a career. <\/p>\n<p>The 28-year-old wide receiver has decided to retire from the NFL before the 2026 season, according to the Cowboys\u2019 official website. <\/p>\n<p>The team has officially placed him on the reserve\/retired list.<\/p>\n<p>Campbell, an Akron, Ohio, native, had a prolific career at Ohio State that saw him win a College Football Playoff national championship in 2015 and earn First Team All-Big Ten honors during the 2018 campaign when he grabbed 90 passes for 1,063 yards with a conference-leading 12 touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>That monster senior season led him to be selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft by the Colts. <\/p>\n<p>Parris Campbell of the Dallas Cowboys runs onto the field prior to the NFL 2025 game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium on October 12, 2025 in Charlotte, North Carolina.  Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Multiple injuries \u2014 including a torn MCL and PCL in Week 2 of the 2020 campaign \u2014 limited him to just 15 games across his first three seasons as a pro. But he played in all 17 contests for Indianapolis in 2022, hauling in a career-best 63 passes for 623 yards and three touchdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Campbell <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/08\/05\/giants-parris-campbell-opens-up-about-sons-traumatic-birth\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">signed a one-year, $4.7 million contract with the Giants<\/a> for the 2023 season following his breakout, but recorded just 20 catches for 104 receiving yards in limited playing time over 12 games (three starts). <\/p>\n<p>He <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2023\/12\/23\/sports\/parris-campbell-undeterred-by-mysterious-lack-of-giants-chances\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">opened up to The Post\u2019s Ryan Dunleavy<\/a> in December of that season about his diminished role. <\/p>\n<p>Parris Campbell of the New York Giants is tackled by Ameer Abdullah #22 of the Las Vegas Raiders as he runs the ball during the first quarter of a 2023 game. Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s not easy, but it\u2019s the nature of the business,\u201d Campbell told The Post. \u201cThe clich\u00e9 thing to say is, \u2018You know what you\u2019re getting when you sign up,\u2019 which is true. But there\u2019s always things you never thought you\u2019d be doing \u2014 and being inactive and not playing is definitely something I never thought would be happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2024\/03\/21\/sports\/parris-campbell-joins-saquon-barkley-in-leaving-giants-for-eagles\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Campbell joined the rival Eagles<\/a> for 2024, and though he finished the year with just six catches, he did get a ring when the Eagles thumped the Chiefs in Super Bowl 2025.<\/p>\n<p>His tour through the NFC East continued last season when he joined the Cowboys, though he suited up in just one game.
