Andy Roddick on his \u201cServed\u201d podcast first reported that Williams was coming back. Williams has requested \u201cmultiple wild cards for the grass-court season\u201d and will play doubles with Victoria Mboko. The No. 9-ranked Mboko is \u201cone of the sport\u2019s fastest-rising stars\u201d and is also repped by the same agency as Williams, IMG. Williams has not played since the 2022 U.S. Open, but she re-entered tennis\u2019s anti-doping pool in December (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/sport\/tennis\/article\/is-serena-williams-making-her-comeback-at-queens-v6j92dn89\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.com\/sport\/tennis\/article\/is-serena-williams-making-her-comeback-at-queens-v6j92dn89\">London TIMES, 5\/28<\/a>). In London, Briggs &amp; Dalwood wrote the news is a \u201chuge fillip\u201d for the WTA tour and will \u201cadd to the feeling that the women\u2019s game is offering greater drama and intrigue\u201d than the ATP Tour.
