New York. \u2013 Reyna C\u00e1ceres, a 23-year-old Dominican woman, was shot in the left eye early Thursday morning in the University Heights section of The Bronx.<\/p>\n
According to reports from the New York Police Department (NYPD), the incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. on Thursday, May 28, in front of the Aqueduct Lands Playground, located on Aqueduct Avenue, near Bronx Community College and West 181st Street.<\/p>\n
C\u00e1ceres was shot in the left eye and was rushed to St. Barnabas Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.<\/p>\n
The authorities presume that the young woman was an innocent victim who was in the wrong place at the wrong time.<\/p>\n
In the scene, evidence of an outdoor gathering or party was found, including scattered cups, bottles, and coolers. Residents of the area reported hearing several consecutive shots before chaos erupted.<\/p>\n
Researchers pointed out that the possible target of the attack was a relative of the victim, who is listed as a person of interest in at least three previous shootings. So far, no arrests have been made and investigations are ongoing.<\/p>\n
