Both Gayle King<\/a> and CBS News<\/a> brass on Friday addressed the widely-circulated report<\/a> that she would depart the anchor desk at \u201cCBS Mornings\u201d next spring.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Variety<\/a> reported that the Emmy Award winner and Oprah Winfrey bestie is expected to leave her position next year. King, who joined the morning show<\/a> in 2011, \u201cmay shift to a different role at the news division,\u201d potentially with \u201ca deal to produce her own programming for the network,\u201d reporters Matt Donnelly and Brian Steinberg wrote.<\/p>\n

Paparazzi approached King outside of the CBS Broadcasting Center<\/a> in Midtown, Manhattan on Friday and probed the broadcast journalist about her future at the Tiffany Network<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll I can say is this: From what I\u2019m being told inside this building \u2026 all I\u2019ve been told by everybody in this building is that they want me here, they like the job I\u2019m doing, I like the job I\u2019m doing!\u201d King told TMZ<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The night before, as buzz began to build about the pending high-profile exit, CBS issued a statement<\/a> in response to the Variety report: \u201cThere have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026. She\u2019s a truly valued part of CBS and we look forward to engaging with her about the future.\u201d<\/p>\n

King, a former news anchor in Hartford, Conn.\u00a0 who is the voice of her own weekly Sirius XM radio show<\/a>, currently hosts \u201cCBS Mornings\u201d with Tony Dokoupil and Nate Burleson.<\/a> She would be the latest high-profile person to change roles or leave the network entirely as CBS\u2019s parent company Paramount finalizes its 8 billion dollar merger with Skydance Media<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The media conglomerate on Wednesday began slashing 2,000 employees<\/a> ahead of next year\u2019s official takeover.
