Most times when drag queen Jessica L\u2019Whor<\/a> is in full makeup, she entertains adult crowds across Colorado. But every so often, she sets up camp outside of Denver\u2019s Union Station \u2014 or other crowded city centers<\/a> \u2014 with a sign that reads \u201cAsk A Queen Anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

She offers passersby a spare dollar bill to learn more about the art of drag. As of June 2025<\/a>, she had given away over $1,000 from this act alone.<\/p>\n

L\u2019Whor\u2019s videos have gone viral on TikTok and Instagram<\/a>, showcasing young people asking for advice on how to work up the courage to become a drag performer, or curious young women wondering \u201chow do you get your lashes to stick?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

One time, a stranger even prayed for L\u2019Whor<\/a> \u2014 not so she would change, or leave the public space \u2014 but for her safety in a world that doesn\u2019t always protect its queer folks.<\/p>\n

\u201cLord, would you protect Jessica? She\u2019s out here spreading good things and good cheer,\u201d the stranger said in a video.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The drag queen has even taken the Q&A bit on the road, dressing as a female pope<\/a> (Moira Rose-style) in front of a church in Salt Lake City, Utah.<\/p>\n

Once, a child approached L\u2019Whor<\/a> and asked why she was handing out dollar bills to question askers.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wanted to show that drag queens can go out like anyone else and just have conversations with people,\u201d she responded.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cUsually, we get tipped dollars, so I thought it would be fun to give dollars to people \u2026 and I get to meet people like you and laugh and get asked really cool questions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ultimately, as L\u2019Whor wrote in a TikTok caption: \u201cAsk A Queen is all about getting the world to know that drag queens are just like everyone else; we\u2019re just a little more glittery.\u201d<\/p>\n

While Denver\u2019s drag scene isn\u2019t as robust as cities like New York City, San Francisco, or Chicago, L\u2019Whor has been a devoted ambassador for her community.<\/p>\n

\u201cDrag in Denver is so overlooked, it\u2019s as wonderfully prominent as other cities,\u201d L\u2019Whor told local magazine 5280<\/a> last year. \u201cIt\u2019s such a huge community aspect here. I could move, but I\u2019m so invested in this scene and supporting local artists.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

A couple of years ago, she launched a local competition called \u201cColorado\u2019s Next Drag Superstar,\u201d but people who aren\u2019t embedded with LGBTQ+ culture still might not totally understand her vision.<\/p>\n

So that\u2019s why she continues to take to the streets for \u201cAsk A Queen Anything,\u201d now nearly three years into the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWearing full glam on the streets is a way to show people that we exist, and offering them money is a way to see if we can get some healthy conversations going,\u201d she told 5280.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve gotten such a broad spectrum of questions; it\u2019s been one of my favorite projects.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
