{"id":24846,"date":"2025-11-01T05:05:16","date_gmt":"2025-11-01T05:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/24846\/"},"modified":"2025-11-01T05:05:16","modified_gmt":"2025-11-01T05:05:16","slug":"united-airlines-planes-collide-at-laguardia-we-all-felt-a-bump","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/24846\/","title":{"rendered":"United Airlines planes collide at LaGuardia: &#8216;We all felt a bump&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Two planes collided on the tarmac at New York\u2019s LaGuardia Airport Friday \u2014 as the airport grappled with\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/10\/31\/us-news\/jfk-forced-to-ground-all-planes-due-to-wild-winds-shutdown-as-all-of-nycs-major-airports-in-crisis\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">intense delays brought on by weather\u00a0<\/a>and staffing shortages due to the historic government shutdown, The Post has learned. <\/p>\n<p>A United Airlines plane returning from Orlando, Florida, was turning into its arrival gate when it clipped the tail of another United jet on the taxiway, a spokesperson for the airline said.<\/p>\n<p>The clipped plane, which was waiting to be taxied for its journey to Houston, was stationary at the time.<\/p>\n<p>Two planes collided at LGA on Friday evening.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all felt a bump during taxi to the runway but didn\u2019t know it was another plane until the captain said it was,\u201d a passenger, who declined to share their name, told The Post moments after the collision.<\/p>\n<p>Video obtained by The Post showed numerous emergency vehicles at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Both planes returned to the gate, and all passengers were deplaned.<\/p>\n<p>There were no injuries reported among the two planes\u2019 328 passengers and 15 crew members.<\/p>\n<p>Maintenance crews are evaluating the clipped plane for any malfunctions following the collision.<\/p>\n<p>A passenger, who declined to share their name, said that they felt a \u201cbump during taxi to the runway.\u201d Chris Gatherer<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the collision, the Houston-bound plane was already running on a 90-minute delay, a delay that continued to grow through the night.<\/p>\n<p>LaGuardia had grounded planes several hours earlier over intense winds, which had reached 45 mph.<\/p>\n<p>Ground delays were running at an average of two hours and 15 minutes at LaGuardia, though some planes were delayed as much as five hours.<\/p>\n<p>The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory through midnight.<\/p>\n<p>Port Authority referred all queries about the incident to United Airlines.<\/p>\n<p>At the time of the collision, the Houston-bound plane was already running on a 90-minute delay.
