I can\u2019t imagine anything else I\u2019d rather like,\u201d Mamdani said Sunday on 1600 AM\u2019s The Black Information Network.<\/p>\n<p>Host Vanessa Tyler asked Mamdani if he loved the job enough to serve a second term.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he plans to run for re-election in 2029, just 5 months into his first tenture. REUTERS\/David &#8216;Dee&#8217; Delgado<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani has been mayor for five months.<\/p>\n<p>He has certainly stirred the pot.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, Mamdani becomes <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/28\/us-news\/mamdani-under-scrutiny-for-boycotting-nycs-israel-day-parade\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the first mayor ever to snub the Israel Day Parade<\/a> over his criticisms of the Jewish state.<\/p>\n<p>He enraged Citadel honcho Ken Griffin after the mayor appeared in a social media video in front of Griffin\u2019s residence <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/05\/24\/us-news\/hochuls-pied-a-terre-tax-will-hurt-regular-folks-retirees-because-of-property-value-fallout-critics\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">to herald Albany\u2019s approval of a pied-a-terre tax<\/a> on luxury second homes. Erik Pendzich\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n<p>Mamdani defended the tax on wealthy \u201cnon-residents\u201d Sunday, and said claims that rich residents and corporations would flee the city over paying higher taxes had not materialized in the past.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor was partially successful in getting Gov. Kathy Hochul and the Democratic-run legislature to support his agenda with a multi-billion dollar bailout. Albany showered Mamdani with money to help launch his early childhood expansion and balance his budget.<\/p>\n<p>This is a breaking story.
