Get ready for a clash of the titans\u2013and some new faces. On Sunday, the 2025 New York City Marathon<\/a> will feature a mix of veterans and newcomers in the men\u2019s elite field, all vying for the ultimate prize of crossing the finish line first in Central Park.<\/p>\n

Marathon icon Eliud Kipchoge<\/a> makes his long-awaited trip to the streets of New York to compete in the final World Marathon Major left on his to-to list, but he\u2019ll have to go up against many past winners, including defending champion Abdi Nageeye<\/a> and 2022 victor Evans Chebet<\/a>. Three-time Major winner Benson Kipruto, 2024 London Marathon champion Alexander Mutiso, and marathon masters world record holder Kenenisa Bekele will also be two top veterans looking to grab the title this weekend.<\/p>\n

And then there\u2019s the athletes making their anticipated debuts, including 2022 U.S. 10,000-meter champion Joe Klecker, two-time Olympic steeplechaser Hillary Bor, and 2022 NCAA cross-country champion Charles Hicks. Could they sneak into the mix in their first tries at the marathon distance?<\/p>\n
