PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN<\/a>) \u2014 Portland finally got its own version of a \u201cBrooklyn Bridge\u201d during a naming ceremony on Sunday.<\/p>\n

In February 2026, the Portland City Council unanimously voted<\/a> to name the Brooklyn Neighborhood\u2019s bridge between Southeast 17th Avenue and Southeast 26th Avenue the Brooklyn Bridge.<\/p>\n

The bridge serves as a link between the east and west sides of the Southeast Portland neighborhood, which also spans the Union Pacific Brooklyn train yard.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s just a lovely bridge. It\u2019s very simple, but very sweet. People think it\u2019s a very modest bridge, which it is. It ties our community together. It provides a great way to get across the train tracks,\u201d said Rion Lyle, an organizer for the event.<\/p>\n

The party, in which participants walked the span of the bridge, was a celebration of the new name and Brooklyn Neighborhood pride.<\/p>\n
