{"id":250912,"date":"2026-06-01T15:23:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-01T15:23:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/250912\/"},"modified":"2026-06-01T15:23:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-01T15:23:08","slug":"serena-williams-to-play-doubles-at-queens-club","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/250912\/","title":{"rendered":"Serena Williams to play doubles at Queen&#8217;s Club"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 23-time Grand Slam winner is making her return to professional tennis and will play doubles at the Queen&#8217;s Club tournament in London, she announced Monday. <\/p>\n<p>The tournament, which takes place from June 8-14, is a key tune-up event ahead of Wimbledon. <\/p>\n<p>Williams last played at the 2022 US Open. <\/p>\n<p>Last week, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/wta\/article\/reports-serena-williams-wants-to-return-in-doubles-with-canadas-victoria-mboko\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.sportsnet.ca\/wta\/article\/reports-serena-williams-wants-to-return-in-doubles-with-canadas-victoria-mboko\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a> suggested that Williams was eying rising Canadian star Victoria Mboko \u2014 who is ranked No. 9 in singles \u2014\u00a0as a potential partner for the tournament. <\/p>\n<p>Mboko was asked about the possibility of playing with Williams after winning her second-round singles match on Thursday at the French Open.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think for me I want to kind of let the moment (be) for her,&#8221;\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.rfi.fr\/en\/sports\/20260528-osaka-says-possible-serena-williams-return-would-be-entertaining\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Mboko said<\/a>, per AFP.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I feel like if she&#8217;s ready to come back on her own terms, then I feel like it&#8217;s up to her to announce that.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Other than that, I don&#8217;t really have much to say. I think the moment is all up to her and when she&#8217;s ready to come back.
