The FDNY responded to the location and found the teen where he fell with a deep laceration to his head. Ultimately, the teen was lucky when he was stuck by heavy concrete, as the falling chunk had its trajectory altered when it bounced off an awning above Salon Barber Essentials, slowing it down before striking the boy, which might have saved his life, according to officials.

Fortunately for the injured boy, the 30-pound piece of concrete bounced off the commercial establishment’s awning before striking the youngster. In the interest of public safety, DOB ordered that the building owner erect 80-linear feet of sidewalk shed around the property. The building owner was also issued a violation for failure to maintain the façade and ordered to enlist a professional engineer to submit a structural stability report to the DOB and a plan for immediate repairs.

[37
98028,310,2823,22975,98029,194,9,24,63,122,124,123
post-251298","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-queens","tag-37-54-82nd-st","tag-daily-newsletter","tag-department-of-buildings","tag-elmhurst-hospital","tag-falling-concrete","tag-fdny","tag-new-york","tag-new-york-city","tag-nyc","tag-queens","tag-queens-headlines","tag-queens-news
["GET
