\u201cIt\u2019s weird, stupid, insulting and angering,\u201d one self-described Democrat in the building fumed.<\/p>\n
\u201cThey didn\u2019t say why they\u2019re supporting him \u2014 just that there\u2019s some evil conspiracy against him and that we should support him as a result,\u201d ripped the tenant. \u201cIt\u2019s disgusting.\u201d<\/p>\n
The 84-year-old former lefty mayoral candidate, Messinger, outraged her well-heeled neighbors in the preeminent pre-war gem, where fashion icon Georgio Armani lived in the $18.5 million penthouse. Helayne Seidman<\/p>\n
And also clueless, given the tax bracket of the tenants.<\/p>\n
\u201cHow much do you want to tax the rich before they get out of town?\u201d the resident wondered. People pay a lot of taxes \u2014 real estate tax, this tax, that tax \u2014 at the end of the day, how much tax is enough?\u201d<\/p>\n
The progressive pair also backed soft-on-crime Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, arguing that he\u2019s \u201ccurrently our district attorney\u201d \u2014 an unpersuasive argument that the resident found \u201cinsulting.\u201d<\/p>\n
Another neighbor called it \u201cproselytizing.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cYou\u2019re not supposed to do that,\u201d the person told The Post.<\/p>\n

In a charged response, the building\u2019s managing agent issued its own letter blasting the inappropriate \u201cdistribution of political materials within the building\u201d to promote \u201cpersonal political views.\u201d<\/p>\n
Messinger insisted to The Post on Friday that the flyer was a response to \u201cfour different people\u201d in the building soliciting for \u201cvoting information and information on ballot initiatives.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe told people what we thought. Information-sharing is a valued element in a democracy,\u201d she said defiantly. \u201cIt\u2019s not proselytizing \u2013 it\u2019s giving people information. They don\u2019t have to agree.\u201d<\/p>\n
Her goal wasn\u2019t to disrupt anyone by putting the flyer under their doors, she claimed.<\/p>\n
\u201cI appreciate that the building asked that this not happen [again]. I\u2019m not going to do this anymore, except for people who ask me,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

Julie Kopel, a real estate broker who recently sold an apartment in the swanky building, wasn\u2019t buying it. \u201cIt\u2019s totally inappropriate to send out your own personal views, and do it in a misleading way that makes it sound like the board or building\u2019s views. I would not think this is OK.<\/p>\n
Gottfried said he\u2019s been sending the \u201cDear Neighbor\u201d flyer for years \u2014 with no objections, until now.<\/p>\n
