City Council Member Linda Lee hosted a Community Health Fair at Alley Pond Park on Saturday, May 30, bringing together representatives from city agencies and community-based nonprofit organizations to engage directly with Queens residents, share agency updates and provide resources that support healthy living<\/a> and overall well-being.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The event was hosted in partnership with U.S. Rep. Grace Meng, Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, State Sen. Toby Ann Stavisky, and Assemblymembers Ed Braunstein and David Weprin.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Representatives from over 40 city agencies and nonprofit organizations attended the fair, including New York City Health and Hospitals<\/a>, the NYC Department of Buildings<\/a> and the Bayside Glen Oaks Volunteer Ambulance Corps<\/a>, who were on site to help address constituent service needs.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Agencies and organizations also provided free blood pressure screenings, CPR demonstrations and massage therapy to attendees.\u00a0

Since the time she began working in the social services sector and leading a nonprofit organization that served immigrant communities, Lee said she has seen firsthand the importance of bringing health resources to communities that have historically been underserved.<\/p>\n

\u201cBy bringing community organizations and city agencies to our neighborhood, we are providing an avenue for residents to meet directly with the representatives who can provide them with the necessary health information and show them new perspectives on living a healthy lifestyle,\u201d she said. \u201cThese health fairs are yearly traditions that I am proud to host, and I am thankful for every partner that has come out to meet with our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
