The Bell’s team of 10 student producers who come from different public high schools work alongside Chalkbeat NY’s reporters to bring you stories, perspectives, and commentary you won’t get anywhere else.<\/p>\n

Celebrate the end of the school year on June 11 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Public Library\u2019s central branch for a special P.S. Weekly live podcast event: High school reporters take the mic. <\/p>\n

The student-led conversation will feature highlights from this season\u2019s P.S. Weekly podcast, a partnership between Chalkbeat<\/a> and The Bell<\/a>. The students covered some of the most pressing issues facing the New York City school system: the fight for integration at the city\u2019s top schools, the aftermath of a school merger, access to sports teams, and the debate around calculus, to name a few. <\/p>\n

Get a behind-the-scenes look at what goes into making the podcast. Learn what these student journalists uncovered during their reporting, and hear fresh student perspectives you won\u2019t find anywhere else. <\/p>\n

Training the next generation of journalists is critical: Fewer than 2 in 10 teens correctly distinguish different types of information, such as news, advertisements, opinions, and entertainment, a News Literacy Project survey<\/a> found. At a time when concerns about media literacy are growing, the Bell and Chalkbeat\u2019s collaboration is equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and training to help them deliver sharp, relevant, and reliable news to their peers.<\/p>\n
