The only answer to rising temperatures across the South is a cool, sweet treat<\/a>. (I don\u2019t make the rules.) Ice cream has long been the favorite summer go-to, whether your memory jumps to the ice cream truck playing its tune down your street, the canteen at the pool selling Nutty Buddies for a quarter, or perhaps using rock salt to make Fresh Peach Ice Cream<\/a> by hand.<\/p>\n

One of my favorite nostalgic ice cream treats is still, to this day, the Drumstick. These classic sundae cones first hit the scene in 1920s Fort Worth, Texas<\/a>, thanks to the Parker brothers of the Drumstick Company. With their crispy base, ice cream center, chocolate shell, roasted peanut topping, and the best part\u2014final chocolate bite at the bottom of the cone\u2014the concoction quickly became a Southern favorite.<\/p>\n

And now, some hundred years later, you can get a Drumstick Blizzard at Dairy Queen.<\/p>\n

The fast food chain recently announced that the Drumstick Blizzard would be coming back out of their DQ Freezer for a very limited time\u2014only the month of June, as the Blizzard of the Month. This delicious treat mixes real Drumstick pieces, chopped peanuts, and chocolate shavings with Dairy Queen\u2019s world-famous soft serve ice cream, yielding a creamy, beloved comeback Blizzard that you won\u2019t want to miss.<\/p>\n

You may also have heard about DQ\u2019s new limited-time $7 Meal Deal, which brings you a full, hearty meal\u2014with dessert, of course\u2014at a fraction of the cost you\u2019ll find elsewhere. The meal deal comes with three-piece chicken tenders or a classic cheeseburger, crispy regular-size fries, a 21-ounce drink, dipping sauce of choice, and a sundae. Here\u2019s the (sweet) kicker: You can upgrade to the new Drumstick Blizzard for just two dollars more.<\/p>\n

Fans are already singing their praises, many of whom tried<\/a> (and failed) to recreate the dessert in the Blizzard’s absence. “One of my absolute favorites!” a customer wrote in response to the chain’s announcement<\/a> on social media. (Others are chomping at the bit for Dairy Queen to bring back the Frosted Animal Cookie and Brownie Batter Blizzards.) Order the fan-favorite Drumstick Blizzard through the month of June in-store, online, and via the DQ mobile app at participating Dairy Queen locations.<\/p>\n
