\u201cWorst Governor in America\u201d Kathy Hochul was so badly damaged by endorsing radical socialist Zohran Mamdani<\/a> for NYC mayor that Democrats are champing at the bit to see the wildly unpopular incumbent booted from office, according to Rep. Elise Stefanik<\/p>\n

\u201cDemocrats are reaching out to us in droves, saying they will refuse to support Kathy, and they look forward to firing her next year,\u201d the upstate Republican lawmaker and prospective 2026 gubernatorial candidate told The Post.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cKathy Hochul bent the knee to the\u00a0raging, antisemite, \u2018Defund The Police\u2019 communist who is going to destroy New York City,\u201d said Stefanik of mayoral frontrunner Mamdani.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s\u00a0going to make it more unaffordable, more unlivable, and dangerous, and she owns this lock, stock and barrel. It is catastrophic for the people of New York.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, Stefanik does see some light at the end of the tunnel if the silver-spoon socialist <\/a>wins Tuesday\u2019s election \u2013 it could help Republicans in next year\u2019s midterm elections and in other races nationwide, including for Hochul\u2019s seat.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a full-blown socialist takeover of the Democrat Party playing out for all to see in the most important city in the world,\u201d said Stefanik, who is one of\u00a0President Donald Trump\u2019s top allies on Capitol Hill.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd it is going to be a significant drag on Democrat candidates up and down the ballot. It\u2019s why Kathy\u2019s own Democrat State Party chair [Jay Jacobs] refused to endorse him \u2014 even though she did. You have members of Congress who are Democrats, refusing to endorse him, because it is existential.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stefanik branded Hochul the \u201cworst governor in America,\u201d saying she is despised across the board by the far-left, far-right and moderates in between, and New Yorkers \u201caren\u2019t going to forget\u201d how Hochul backed an Israel-hating, anti-cop socialist. <\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s disliked not just by Republicans and independents, but the Democrats, and even the socialists who heckled her off the stage, chanting, \u2018tax the rich,\u2019\u201d said Stefanik, referring to Hochul being heckled at a Queens campaign rally for Mamdani last week.<\/a><\/p>\n

Stefanik said she plans to make a formal announcement on her\u00a0expected gubernatorial bid shortly after Election Day on Tuesday.<\/p>\n

Hochul endorsed Mamdani last month to appease the far-left in a desperate attempt to stave off a real primary challenge next year, insiders said. Paul Martinka<\/p>\n

A Manhattan Institute poll <\/a>released Tuesday shows Stefanik narrowly beating Hochul in a hypothetical 2026 matchup.\u00a0The governor trails her firebrand GOP nemesis by 1%, according to\u00a0the statewide survey<\/a>\u00a0conducted by the right-leaning think tank.<\/p>\n

Hochul endorsed Mamdani last month to appease the far-left in a desperate attempt to stave off a real primary challenge next year, insiders said. She\u2019s banking on Mamdani becoming NYC\u2019s next mayor and then endorsing her in the 2026 Democratic primary, where she expects to face a challenge from her\u00a0estranged Lt. Gov. Antonio Delgado<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mamdani\u2019s campaign did not return messages, and Hochul\u2019s campaign deferred comment to state Democratic Party spokesman Addison Dick, who accused Stefanik of \u201crunning from\u201d a record of failure in Congress. <\/p>\n
