{"id":254808,"date":"2026-06-04T04:05:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-04T04:05:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/254808\/"},"modified":"2026-06-04T04:05:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-04T04:05:45","slug":"news-12-bronx-bronx-mansion-offers-a-glimpse-into-americas-history-ahead-of-250th-anniversary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/254808\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Bronx Mansion Offers A Glimpse Into Americas History Ahead Of 250th Anniversary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">As the nation prepares to celebrate America&#8217;s 250th birthday, one historic site in the Bronx is helping keep that history alive.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, tucked inside Pelham Bay Park, gives people a glimpse into 19th-century life while highlighting the area&#8217;s connection to the Revolutionary War. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Museum educator Maxine Siegel says the Battle of Pelham, which occurred on the estate&#8217;s grounds, played a key role in American history.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">&#8220;The British were coming with about 800 ships and about 4,000 soldiers,&#8221; Siegel said. &#8220;But 750 very brave patriots held them back.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The mansion, built in the 1830s, features Federal-style architecture on the exterior and Greek Revival design inside. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Visitors can explore historic furnishings, artifacts and exhibits that showcase daily life from centuries ago.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">As part of the country&#8217;s 250th anniversary celebrations, the museum will host a Star-Spangled Celebration on June 13.
