New York\u2019s largest police union is demanding that the head of the city\u2019s police watchdog group step down because of an alleged rules violation, The Post has learned.<\/p>\n
Civilian Complaint Review Board Chair Mohammad Khalid is violating the City Charter by holding a seat on Staten Island Community Board 2, the Police Benevolent Association claims. The CCRB investigates complaints against police officers and makes disciplinary recommendations to the police commissioner.<\/p>\n
\u201cYour appointment at the same time that you serve a New York City community board is not only a direct violation of the City Charter, it defies all appearances or expectations of fairness for police officers who are subject to CCRB,\u201d the PBA wrote in letters to Khalid, Mayor Eric Adams and the Staten Island City Council Delegation. <\/p>\n

PBA President Patrick Hendry has been outspoken against the CCRB, which investigates complaints against police officers and makes disciplinary recommendations. Stephen Yang<\/p>\n
\u201cWillful disregard for these rules represents a gross double standard, signaling that CCRB Board members do not hold themselves to the same rigorous standards to which they purport to hold police officers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The letter, which was dated Friday, goes on to claim the \u201cundisclosed conflict of interest\u201d invalidates the CCRB\u2019s disciplinary recommendations since Khalid\u2019s appointment last year.<\/p>\n
Hendry is calling for the CCRB president to step down. Dennis A. Clark<\/p>\n
\u201cTo remedy these violations and restore integrity in CCRB\u2019s decision-making process, you must resign from the agency immediately,\u201d the letter concludes.<\/p>\n
