Some of them were seen exiting the sewer system at 2 a.m.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The NYPD\u2019s Emergency Service Unit and the New York City Department of Environmental Protection\u2019s Bureau of Water and Sewer Operations investigated inside the sewer.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is no threat to public safety at this time,\u201d said the NYPD. \u201cThe investigation remains ongoing by the NYPD\u2019s Intelligence Division.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The same night, another group was also seen going into a manhole on Heyward Street and Bedford Avenue in Williamsburg at 1 a.m. and exited at 3:40 a.m. The individuals then fled the location in an unknown vehicle to parts unknown.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>No arrests have been made.<\/p>\n<p>A source told the New York Post the investigation conducted underground found the incidents appear to be people looking for anything of value that made its way into the city\u2019s sewer system.<\/p>\n<p>In April 2025, three men were arrested for allegedly entering the sewer system on 17th Avenue and 82nd Street.
