A longtime friend and supporter of Duane Park Patisserie has started a GoFundMe account<\/a> to help Madeline Lanciani with legal fees. \u201cAs rents continue to rise and independent businesses struggle to compete, New York City \u2014 and Tribeca in particular \u2013is losing many of the small, owner-operated establishments that helped make these neighborhoods what they are,\u201d Emily Kabalkin wrote. \u201cAll funds raised will go directly to Madeline through Duane Park Patisserie\u2019s business bank account and will help cover the substantial legal expenses associated with that effort.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Tribeca Alliance Merchants Association<\/a>, which is going by TAMA, will host its inaugural annual meeting on Thursday, June 11, at 6p, at the Citi branch at 388 Greenwich. Chris Marte will be the evening\u2019s speaker. The meeting will include electing the board of directors and organization updates. Voting is limited to members whose dues are paid and current as of Friday, June 5, but the public is welcome. The organization is also seeking people interested in serving on the board of directors. Sounds Australia will host the Aussie BBQ NYC Music Festival (isn\u2019t that called a barbie?) on Saturday, June 13, from 3 to 10p at The Seaport. The free event aims to bring emerging and acclaimed Australian artists directly to New York audiences.
