A visibly agitated President Trump stormed off his interview with NBC News\u2019 \u201cMeet the Press\u201d after a testy exchange with a reporter who grilled him over his claims that the 2020 election was stolen from him.<\/a><\/p>\n

Trump lashed out at moderator Kristen Welker after she insisted he failed to provide a shred of evidence about his disputed accusations <\/a>that the 2020 election was \u201crigged\u201d against him or that the elections in California are subject to malfeasance.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re a one-sided crooked network,\u201d Trump fumed during the interview, which aired Sunday. \u201cLet\u2019s call it quits because I\u2019ve had enough. Thank you, darling. Have a good time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Welker pleaded with Trump to continue, recalling how she trekked over to Wisconsin for the interview, but the president was done.<\/p>\n

\u201cI sat in the rain with you for an hour,\u201d he grumbled.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn and off in the rain, and I\u2019ve given you enough time. You ought to straighten out your press,\u201d he added. \u201cA country can never be great with a dishonest press.\u201d<\/p>\n

After airing that testy exchange, Welker revealed that she spoke with Trump afterward and he agreed to do a follow-up interview with her, though it\u2019s not clear when.<\/p>\n

Welker claimed that she and Trump acknowledged complications caused by the rain during the interview that aired Sunday.<\/p>\n

The interview had started to get testy towards the final six minutes when Welker pressed Trump on a proposed $1.776 billion \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund<\/a> that aimed to award cash payouts to victims of federal \u201clawfare.\u201d <\/p>\n

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed to lawmakers last week that the Justice Department scrapped the controversial fund.<\/a><\/p>\n

But some skeptics raised concerns that it could get revived.<\/p>\n

Trump called the fund a \u201cgreat idea\u201d and said he\u2019d be \u201cdisappointed\u2019 if it doesn\u2019t get approved.<\/p>\n

Welker then pressed Trump about whether Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol rioters should be able to get money from a hypothetical \u201canti-weaponization\u201d fund.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow, I don\u2019t know what\u2019s going to happen with the weaponization fund. I love the idea,\u201d Trump said. \u201cPeople like stupid [former President Joe] Biden, he\u2019s not smart enough to know what\u2019s going on, but people that surrounded him \u2026 what they did to the lives of people, they destroyed people. They sent people to jail who did nothing wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

Welker shot back that \u201cthere\u2019s no evidence of what you\u2019re saying\u201d and tried to pivot to a question about Blanche instead. But then Trump brought up the 2020 election.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe election was rigged. It was a dirty election,\u201d Trump snapped about the election, which he lost to Biden before winning in 2024 against Democrat Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n

The NBC host noted that Trump hasn\u2019t presented evidence to prove his dubious claims about the 2020 election.
