The Data Center Construction Ban Bill ( 2025-S10642<\/a> ) is designed to give policymakers time to understand the environmental and energy price impacts of large-scale data centers. This bill mandates that state environmental agencies prepare impact reports assessing the electricity, water, land, and pollution generated by data centers.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the data center construction ban bill requires companies planning to build large-scale data centers, defined as those with peak demand of at least 20 megawatts, to hold a public hearing at least three months before project approval and to bear the costs of that hearing.<\/p>\n

According to Bloomberg Government<\/a> , Governor Hoekle has not yet stated whether he will sign the bill, and he will need to decide whether to sign or reject it by December 2026.
