(WIBW) &#8211; Manhattan community members can learn more about artificial intelligence this week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">Kansas State University\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/lib.k-state.edu\/technology\/ai-and-libraries\/ai-symposium\/2025-ai-symposium\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/lib.k-state.edu\/technology\/ai-and-libraries\/ai-symposium\/2025-ai-symposium\/\">AI Symposium<\/a> is open to both university students and the general public. <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe are kind of increasing the awareness of artificial intelligence, both in its foundations and in its applications,\u201d said K-State computer science professor Pascal Hitzler. \u201cAnd its societal impacts.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">The three-day event features panels and workshops with guests from the university and beyond.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">\u201cIt\u2019s exciting, you know,\u201d said guest speaker and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fellowsfundvc.com\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.fellowsfundvc.com\/\">Fellows Fund<\/a> venture partner Nick Chong. \u201cLike I said, I\u2019m a wildcat, so this is an exciting time to bring the discussion around AI back on campus and hopefully generate some new innovation ideas out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">One goal of the event is to express how artificial intelligence really works.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cUnderstanding what happens with AI or how AI actually manages to do what it does helps to de-mystify what it does,\u201d Hitzler said. \u201cSo I think it also helps take the scare out of it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Each day focuses on the use of AI in different disciplines.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cAgriculture is a very complex thing,\u201d Hitzler said. \u201cAnd bringing agriculture into the future, of course, is important for Kansas. It\u2019s also of course important for Kansas State because we\u2019re the land grant university here.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cLike everything else in technology, right, there\u2019s always iterations of new things,\u201d Chong said. \u201cThis is a new frontier, so this is how we embrace it and learn it and tackle it.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"text | text-start article-text\">The AI Symposium continues Wednesday and lasts through Thursday at K-State\u2019s Hale Library, Manhattan Public Library and on Zoom.
