Novelis said on Wednesday \u2060it had restarted production at its Oswego, New York \u200bfacility, a \u200bplant key \u200bto Ford<\/a>‘s F-150 pickup truck line, months after two fires halted operations.<\/p>\n The aluminum \u2060supplier \u200csaid it was working closely \u2060with customers to ramp up supply.<\/p>\n While Novelis also supplies other automakers, including Stellantis<\/a> and General Motors<\/a>, \u200cFord is a major consumer because its flagship F-series trucks largely \u200buse aluminum bodies.<\/p>\n The fires spurred supply bottlenecks, which led Ford to cut its 2025 profit forecast<\/a> \u2060and flag a charge of up to $2 \u200cbillion.<\/p>\n “Restarting the Oswego hot \u200cmill is an important step forward for our operations and, most importantly, for our \u2060customers,” Novelis CEO Steve Fisher said on \u2060Wednesday.<\/p>\n Novelis had been leaning \u2060on plants in South Korea and Europe to make up for the \u200bdowntime from \u200cthe New York plant and support aluminum production.<\/p>\n In May, India’s Hindalco Industries<\/a>, which owns Novelis, said the disruptions cost it roughly $437 \u200bmillion in the fourth-quarter.<\/p>\n
