Selection marks the next phase of construction on Micron\u2019s New York project, expected to generate 50,000 jobs and strengthen America\u2019s semiconductor supply chain<\/p>\n

Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU) and Bechtel announced today that Micron has selected Bechtel to partner on the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of the first phase of Micron\u2019s historic leading-edge memory manufacturing complex in Clay, New York, which is planned to become the nation\u2019s largest semiconductor manufacturing facility. Bechtel will mobilize at the White Pine Commerce Park site in Onondaga County immediately and scale its presence quickly.<\/p>\n

Since breaking ground on its first New York fab in January 2026, Micron has made strong progress and is now transitioning to the next phase of construction with Bechtel. The project represents the largest private investment in New York state history, projected to add approximately $16.7 billion per year in real economic output in the state and approximately $5.4 billion per year in personal income for New Yorkers over the next 30 years<\/p>\n

Micron\u2019s leading-edge memory manufacturing complex\u00a0is expected to generate 50,000 jobs in New York, including over 4,500 construction jobs.\u00a0At peak construction, the\u00a0work\u00a0will\u00a0support thousands of skilled craft professionals, creating opportunities for union trades,\u00a0apprentices, local training program graduates,\u00a0specialty contractors, suppliers, and construction professionals across New York.\u00a0As Micron and Bechtel build out their project team and supply chain, they plan to conduct community outreach to help develop the local supply chain\u00a0and\u00a0trade\u00a0labor\u00a0ecosystem needed to build these fabs, ensuring state and local businesses\u00a0and\u00a0jobseekers\u00a0are poised to benefit from the work ahead.\u00a0For every direct Micron hire, there would be almost six other jobs created in the state economy.
