The Queens Democratic Party leadership has snubbed one of its own \u2014 refusing to endorse Dem city mayoral nominee and borough Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani<\/a> before Tuesday\u2019s election.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have a lot of Democrats in Queens who do not support Mamdani,\u201d Democratic district leader Hiram Monserrate told The Post of the local party chapter, which held its annual pre-election gala at Antun\u2019s restaurant last week \u2014 and mayoral contender Andrew Cuomo\u2019s campaign literature was instead seen at many of the tables.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is a reckoning occurring in the Democratic Party. There is a growing concern that socialism is hijacking the Democratic Party,\u201d Monserrate said.<\/p>\n

The Queens Democratic Party has declined to endorse Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani for mayor. James Keivom<\/p>\n

The Queens party had endorsed Cuomo during the Democratic mayoral primary in June, but Mamdani trounced the Queens native, forcing the ex-gov to run in the general election on an independent line.<\/p>\n

Rep. Gregory Meeks, the party chairman, and the Queens organization have since declined to endorse Mamdani, the front-runner and nominee who lives in Astoria, in the general race.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t understand it. It\u2019s disgraceful,\u201d a party insider said.<\/p>\n

But Monserrate said Meeks would have faced pushback if he recommended a Mamdani endorsement.<\/p>\n

Mamdani does have backing from some of the borough\u2019s major political figures, including Queens Borough President Donovan Richards <\/a>and state Sen. John Liu<\/a>, with the latter facing backlash from some of his Jewish constituents for endorsing the Israel-bashing legislator.<\/p>\n

Other elected officials and district leaders are quietly backing Cuomo or staying mum, and so the party organization sat out the race, party sources said.<\/p>\n

Meeks personally never endorsed Mamdani and is more interested in Queens\u2019 role to help elect the new City Council speaker, sources said.<\/p>\n

His son-in-law, James Johnson, is a faith-based outreach coordinator for the Cuomo campaign, sources noted.<\/p>\n

Meeks declined comment to The Post.<\/p>\n

Monserrate is part of a group fighting the sex trade along the borough\u2019s Roosevelt Avenue corridor <\/a> \u2014 dubbed \u201cthe Market of Sweethearts\u201d \u2014 and took issue with Mamdani for previously supporting legislation to decriminalize prostitution.<\/p>\n

The Staten Island Democratic Party also has been tied in knots over the mayor\u2019s race.<\/p>\n

The island party endorsed Cuomo during the primary.<\/p>\n

But the party chair Laura LoBianco Sword endorsed Mamdani <\/a>after he won the primary, saying he was the party\u2019s nominee.<\/p>\n

Then other district leaders in the party objected, and she stepped down as leader<\/a> following the backlash.<\/p>\n

The island party, now headed by Assemblyman Charles Fall, has not endorsed nominee Mamdani.<\/p>\n
