Iva Jovic is building momentum on the grass, defeating Alexandra Eala<\/a> to go through to the Queen\u2019s 2026 quarter-finals.<\/p>\n

The U.S. sixth seed had no trouble against her close friend, cruising through to win 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday (10 June). She awaits Laura Siegemund<\/a>\u00a0or No. 2 seed\u00a0Amanda Anisimova<\/a>\u00a0in the next round of the WTA 500 tennis<\/a> tournament.<\/p>\n

Jovic’s victory was her second consecutive win against the\u00a0Filipina, two weeks after they met in the opening round of Roland-Garros, which was also settled in straight sets.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Eala, fresh off her first grass title in the WTA Challenger event in Birmingham, had no answer to the world No. 19\u2019s ferocious forehands across the baseline.<\/p>\n

Despite a more accurate serve (66 per cent on first serve), Eala won just over half (51.5 per cent) of her first serve points as opposed to Jovic winning 21 of 26 points on first serve.<\/p>\n

World No. 33 Eala\u00a0was broken five times in the 76 minutes on court in south-west London, as the top tennis players continue their grass-court preparations for Wimbledon.
