{"id":262872,"date":"2026-06-11T06:13:07","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T06:13:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/262872\/"},"modified":"2026-06-11T06:13:07","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T06:13:07","slug":"zara-tindall-celebrates-emotional-victory-with-mare-bred-from-late-queens-beloved-horse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/262872\/","title":{"rendered":"Zara Tindall celebrates emotional victory with mare bred from late Queen&#8217;s beloved horse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Zara Tindall\u2019s much-loved mare A Little Something continued her<br \/>\nimpressive progression over fences with a commanding victory in a<br \/>\nhandicap chase, extending an already remarkable record for the<br \/>\nroyal-owned horse.<\/p>\n<p>The seven-year-old bay mare, bred and owned by the King\u2019s niece,<br \/>\npowered to a 12-length success under jockey Ben Jones after making<br \/>\nvirtually all of the running.<\/p>\n<p>Trainer Emma Lavelle\u2019s charge took control of the contest from<br \/>\nan early stage, jumping fluently throughout before pulling clear of<br \/>\nher rivals to secure her second consecutive victory.<\/p>\n<p>The win was another significant milestone for A Little<br \/>\nSomething, who has now finished in the first three on nine<br \/>\noccasions from just 13 career starts.<\/p>\n<p>The mare\u2019s consistency has made her one of the most reliable<br \/>\nhorses to carry the Tindall colours in recent seasons. Before her<br \/>\nlatest back-to-back victories, she had already finished runner-up<br \/>\ntwice and third twice, demonstrating admirable consistency<br \/>\nthroughout her short career.<\/p>\n<p>A Little Something also boasts a notable royal pedigree. She is<br \/>\nby Dartmouth, one of the late Queen Elizabeth II\u2019s most successful<br \/>\nhomebred racehorses, and was bred by Tindall out of<br \/>\nSomethinaboutmolly.<\/p>\n<p>Her sire, Dartmouth, won the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot in<br \/>\n2016 and was one of the late Queen\u2019s favourite horses before<br \/>\nretiring to stud.<\/p>\n<p>Trainer Emma Lavelle believes the switch to fences from has<br \/>\ntransformed A Little Something\u2019s fortunes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.racingpost.com\/news\/reports\/id-say-shed-love-to-take-the-reins-zara-tindall-homebred-gains-back-to-back-chase-wins-for-emma-lavelle-aVLOX5d8OhSX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">She told the Racing Post:<\/a> \u201cA<br \/>\nLittle Something seems to really love chasing and she\u2019s got very<br \/>\nsure of herself with her jumping.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think going over fences has been the making of her. The trip<br \/>\nseems to be right and she loves this better ground, so you\u2019d be<br \/>\nhoping there\u2019s a bit of improvement to come.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The trainer indicated that another outing could come quickly,<br \/>\nwith a valuable race at Stratford already under consideration.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHopefully the handicapper won\u2019t do anything too ridiculous,\u201d<br \/>\nLavelle added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s a race at Stratford in a couple of weeks that\u2019s a 0-100<br \/>\nand it\u2019s worth a bit more money, and that\u2019s been our plan.
