Launching today (11 June), Jaywalker is a new cocktail bar and event space inside the Bushwick distillery of New York Distilling Company (NYDC).<\/p>\n

NYDC said the bar is an \u2018ode to the city\u2019s artists and rebels\u2019, with its name echoing the brand\u2019s Jaywalk Rye<\/a>. The whiskey uses a 17th-century variety of New York rye that is just one-third the size of conventional rye, resulting in a less \u2018spicy\u2019 expression.<\/p>\n

Jaywalker\u2019s cocktails will make use of NYDC spirits, including \u2018approachable\u2019 riffs on the Manhattan and Martini that are priced at US$12.<\/p>\n

\u201cSteinbeck said: \u2018New York is where you prove if what you think in theory makes sense in real life.\u2019 For me, the simultaneous simplicity and complexity of a great Manhattan is the epitome of a great night out,\u201d said NYDC founder Allen Katz. \u201cBy the second drink in hand, there is usually a realised plan in play built on curiosity and confidence. That\u2019s the feeling we want Jaywalker to capture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jamie Gordon is behind the cocktail programme, which is inspired by the aromas and flavours of \u2018New York City constants\u2019, such as local flower shops, bodegas and markets.<\/p>\n

Highlights include an Egg Cream made with Jaywalk Bonded Rye, Ferrand Cognac, homemade chocolate syrup, milk and seltzer, garnished with freshly grated nutmeg.<\/p>\n

The Floral Arrangement Martini, meanwhile, combines Dorothy Parker New York Gin, sakura vermouth, jasmine-infused extra dry vermouth, and chamomile bitters.<\/p>\n

For summer, frozen drinks include the Vesper Fros\u00e9 and the Vacation Mode Manhattan.<\/p>\n

As well as serving cocktails, Jaywalker will offer guided tastings and immersive blending experiences.<\/p>\n

Food is provided by Kings Co Imperial, with options including chicken wontons with cinnamon red oil and cold sesame noodles topped with spring onions and peanuts.<\/p>\n

Creative agency Contagious is behind the interiors, which are designed to feel \u2018distinctly Brooklyn\u2019 through industrial textures and oversized murals. The 3,000 square foot space also features a state-of-the-art sound system, adaptable layouts, leather banquettes, and velvet upholstery.<\/p>\n

Loch Lomond Group<\/a> bought NYDC in May 2025.<\/p>\n
