{"id":263430,"date":"2026-06-11T17:41:09","date_gmt":"2026-06-11T17:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/263430\/"},"modified":"2026-06-11T17:41:09","modified_gmt":"2026-06-11T17:41:09","slug":"news-12-bronx-nypd-officer-arrested-charged-for-attempted-murder-of-bronx-man-in-kingsbridge","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/263430\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Bronx | Nypd Officer Arrested Charged For Attempted Murder Of Bronx Man In Kingsbridge"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">An NYPD officer has been arrested and charged for the attempted murder of a Bronx man.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Bronx District Attorney confirms that off-duty officer, Jonathan Baez, is facing many charges including attempted murder, assault and kidnapping.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">According to the indictment, back on March 16 in front of 167West 231st Street, Baez allegedly <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/nypd-force-investigation-division-probes-after-off-duty-officer-accused-of-shooting-man-in-kingsbridge\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">approached a 30-year-old man<\/a> in search of his stolen car. Baez pointed his firearm at the man, ordered him to the ground and straddled him with the gun pointed at the man&#8217;s back. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Baez later fired two shots into a white Hyundai Genesis parked nearby, which struck the man in the head. That man was taken to the hospital in critical condition and is still on a ventilator.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The indictment states that after his 2024 Honda CRV was stolen from his apartment in Riverdale, Baez conducted 200 unauthorized searches of NYPD databases for a white Hyundai spotted in surveillance video as being involved in the theft. This happened between March 15-16. The car has not been recovered. <\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Baez, who worked for Gracie Mansion&#8217;s security detail, was placed on <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/bronx.news12.com\/off-duty-nypd-officer-accused-of-shooting-man-in-kingsbridge-over-stolen-vehicle\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">modified duty<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"An NYPD officer has been arrested and charged for the attempted murder of a Bronx man.
