Causi<\/p>\n<p>Alomar Sr.\u2019s career began in 1964 saw him take the field for the Braves, Mets, White Sox, Angels, Yankees and Rangers before retiring in 1978.<\/p>\n<p>He was an integral reserve of the 1976 Bronx Bombers squad that went to the World Series, famously on-deck in the bottom of the ninth inning of the ALCS-winning Game 5 against the Royals when Chris Chambliss hit a series-clinching homer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Yankees mourn the passing of Sandy Alomar Sr. and extend our deepest condolences to his family, friends and loved ones,\u201d the team wrote in a statement on X.<\/p>\n<p>He got into coaching \u2014 managing Winter League teams in Puerto Rico, which included his future MLB star sons, Roberto and Sandy Jr. \u2014 before working his way up to a major league staff.
