{"id":264369,"date":"2026-06-12T13:07:47","date_gmt":"2026-06-12T13:07:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/264369\/"},"modified":"2026-06-12T13:07:47","modified_gmt":"2026-06-12T13:07:47","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-gravesend-man-gets-18-years-in-prison-for-fatally-shooting-man-sitting-on-stoop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/264369\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | Gravesend Man Gets 18 Years In Prison For Fatally Shooting Man Sitting On Stoop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A Gravesend man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for a 2020 shooting that killed a man sitting on a stoop in Bushwick.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The Kings County District Attorney\u2019s Office says William Freeman opened fire at Ethan Williams, 20, and his friends in front of an Airbnb they were renting.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Williams was struck in the chest and <a data-rich-text-hyperlink=\"true\" href=\"https:\/\/brooklyn.news12.com\/police-year-old-man-discovered-in-bushwick-with-fatal-gunshot-wound\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">died of his wounds<\/a>. Freeman fled the scene and remained at large until 2022.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Authorities say he was taken into custody during a traffic stop after admitting that he shot at the victim\u2019s group because he thought one of them was responsible for his cousin\u2019s death weeks prior.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Freeman pleaded guilty to manslaughter earlier this year.
