David Beckham<\/a> refused to address his family drama with son Brooklyn Beckham<\/a> in a recent interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo be honest, I\u2019m sorry to stop you there, but that\u2019s a private matter,\u201d David, 51, told Variety<\/a> when the subject was broached in an interview published on Friday, June 12. \u201cThat\u2019s the one thing that I don\u2019t want to talk about.\u201d<\/p>\n

The soccer icon spoke to the outlet in celebration of receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Friday.<\/p>\n

While Brooklyn, 27, lives nearby in Beverly Hills with wife Nicola Peltz, he was nowhere to be found as David\u2019s friends \u2014 including Tom Cruise \u2014 and family celebrated the prestigious honor. David posed in front of his Hollywood star along with wife Victoria Beckham, their sons Romeo Beckham, 23, and Cruz Beckham, 21, and daughter Harper Beckham, 14.<\/p>\n

There have been reports of a rift within the family for years, dating back to Peltz not wearing a Victoria Beckham wedding dress for her April 2022 nuptials. Various social media snubs<\/a> led up to Brooklyn finally addressing the situation<\/a> in January with a scathing statement.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been silent for years and made every effort to keep these matters private. Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed,\u201d Brooklyn wrote in a January 20 Instagram Story. \u201cI do not want to reconcile with my family. I\u2019m not being controlled, I\u2019m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Brooklyn insisted that his parents \u201ccontrolled narratives in the press\u201d about their family throughout his \u201centire life.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tThe Beckham family drama is officially out in the open \u2014 and David and Victoria Beckham have handled it in different ways. The pair\u2019s son Brooklyn Beckham didn\u2019t hold back when he posted a lengthy statement to his Instagram in January 2026, addressing his estrangement from his famous family head-on. The model and aspiring chef [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n

\u201cThe performative social media posts, family events and inauthentic relationships have been a fixture of the life I was born into,\u201d he alleged. \u201cRecently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they\u2019ll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of the innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out.\u201d<\/p>\n

He confirmed longstanding rumors of tension between Peltz, 31, and his parents, accusing the Beckhams of \u201ctrying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding.\u201d Members of the Beckham family allegedly told Brooklyn that Peltz was \u201cnot blood\u201d and \u201cnot family\u201d on the eve of his wedding.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have been controlled by my parents for most of my life,\u201d he concluded. \u201cI grew up with overwhelming anxiety. For the first time in my life, since stepping away from my family, that anxiety has disappeared. I wake up every morning grateful for the life I chose, and have found peace and relief. My wife and I do not want a life shaped by image, press, or manipulation. All we want is peace, privacy and happiness for us and our future family.\u201d<\/p>\n

David gave a TV interview to CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos hours after Brooklyn released his statement but only offered a cryptic response<\/a> about children making mistakes on social media.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve always spoken about social media and the power of social media \u2014 for the good and for the bad,\u201d he told Squawk Box on January 20. \u201cWhat kids can access these days, it can be dangerous. But what I\u2019ve found personally, especially with my kids as well: Use it for the right reasons.\u201d<\/p>\n

He went on, \u201cI\u2019ve been able to use my platform for my following, for UNICEF. And it\u2019s been the biggest tool to make people aware of what\u2019s going on around the world for children. And I\u2019ve tried to do the same with my children, to educate them. They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That\u2019s how they learn. So, that\u2019s what I try to teach my kids, but you have to sometimes let them make those mistakes as well.\u201d<\/p>\n

That same day, David had no response<\/a> when reporters directly asked him if he had \u201ca message for Brooklyn\u201d and questioned whether he was \u201cdisappointed [that] family business is being aired in public.\u201d<\/p>\n

Victoria, 52, broke her silence on the family feud by telling the Wall Street Journal in April that she and David both \u201clove our children so much.\u201d<\/p>\n
