FBI Director Kash Patel<\/a>\u00a0defended his relationship girlfriend, country music singer Alexis Wilkins, after the pair received online backlash over the weekend.<\/p>\n

Patel\u2019s statement followed reports that he used an FBI jet to visit the singer, who sang the national anthem at a wrestling event at\u00a0Penn State University<\/a>\u00a0on Oct. 25.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe disgustingly baseless attacks against Alexis \u2014 a true patriot and the woman I\u2019m proud to call my partner in life \u2014 are beyond pathetic,\u201d\u00a0Patel wrote on X.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cShe is a rock-solid conservative and a country music sensation who has done more for this nation than most will in ten lifetimes,\u201d he said. \u201cI\u2019m so blessed she\u2019s in my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patel added that attacking Wilkins \u201cjeopardizes our safety,\u201d while also criticizing his allies who have kept mum over the controversy.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo our supposed allies staying silent \u2014 your silence is louder than the clickbait haters,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

The attacks on Patel and Wilkins began last week after Kyle Seraphin \u2014 an ex FBI agent and outspoken Kash critic \u2014 drew attention to the FBI chief\u2019s jet logs, which highlighted his trip to see Wilkins perform at the\u00a0Real American Freestyle (RAF) pro-wrestling event.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re in the middle of a government shutdown where they\u2019re not even gonna pay all of the employees that work for the agency that this guy heads, and this guy is jetting off to hang out with his girlfriend in Nashville on our dime?\u201d Seraphin said on his show.<\/p>\n

The conservative podcaster ultimately accused Patel and Wilkins of \u201cgrifting off the American public,\u201d sparking outrage against the couple.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The revelations of Patel\u2019s publicly-available jet logs allegedly caused the FBI director to oust\u00a0Steven Palmer, a 27-year veteran of the FBI, who oversees the bureau\u2019s aviation units,\u00a0Bloomberg Law reported.<\/a><\/p>\n

Palmer was reportedly told he needed to resign or be fired, a decision made in-part over Patel\u2019s fury at the reports of his personal travel, individuals with knowledge over the incident told the outlet.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

The FBI chief\u2019s spokesman, Ben Williamson, said that all the headlines criticizing Patel were\u00a0\u201cdisingenuous and dumb.\u201d<\/p>\n

FBI directors must use government planes to ensure secure travel, with the chiefs ordered to pay reimbursements for personal trips.\u00a0<\/p>\n
