NEW YORK (PIX11) \u2014 An Air Quality Alert has been posted for much of the tri-state area, according to the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.<\/p>\n

The alert is in effect from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. on Friday.<\/p>\n

The Air Quality Index is expected to be greater than 100 for high levels of ozone, according to airnow.gov.<\/p>\n

When pollution levels are elevated, the New York State Department of Health recommends that individuals consider limiting strenuous outdoor physical activity to reduce the risk of adverse health effects.<\/p>\n
