Victor Wembanyama<\/a> took the high road after someone appeared to throw an egg at him<\/a> as he returned to a New York City hotel after Game 4 of the NBA Finals.<\/p>\n

Videos circulating social media showed objects being hurled from a rowdy crowd in the direction of the San Antonio Spurs\u2019 7-4 superstar after the Knicks<\/a>\u2019 historic come-from-behind win on Wednesday night.<\/p>\n

One video<\/a> seemed to show an egg exploding on a pole near Wembanyama outside of the entrance to the team hotel.<\/p>\n

As of Saturday morning, there was no complaint on file, an NYPD spokesperson said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t really think much of it,\u201d Wembanyama said Friday, addressing the incident for the first time. \u201cI just saw that one video of the eggs. I didn\u2019t see any other one. It\u2019s OK. I don\u2019t dislike it. Obviously, it\u2019s not good at all. But it doesn\u2019t bother me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Other footage appeared to show fans surrounding and banging on the Spurs\u2019 bus outside of Madison Square Garden that night.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did hear some things, yeah,\u201d Wembanyama, 22, said. \u201cI have no idea. I think it was a bottle because it was, like, water on the bus. I didn\u2019t see anything.\u201d<\/p>\n

The incidents occurred on a night the Knicks furiously erased a 29-point deficit and won, 107-106<\/a>, behind OG Anunoby\u2019s instant-classic go-ahead putback with 1.2 seconds remaining.<\/p>\n

On Thursday, Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar said<\/a> he wished \u201cmore effort had been put out in New York\u201d to protect the Spurs after the Knicks received police escorts in San Antonio.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was very well received by the Knicks and their families last week [for Games 1 and 2]. They were very appreciative of the effort that we put forth, providing an escort from their hotel to the game, and then back to the hotel after the game. It\u2019s a little extra effort on our part \u2014 a lot of extra effort on our part \u2014 but I think it\u2019s worth it,\u201d Salazar said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we saw with our Spurs, the bus getting surrounded and rocked, that\u2019s a bad situation just waiting to happen, not just for the players themselves but also for the people on the ground, doing this sort of thing.\u201d<\/p>\n

Wednesday night was an all-around rough one for Wembanyama<\/a>, who finished with 24 points and 13 rebounds in Game 4 but missed 10 of his final 12 shot attempts, as well as a pair of free throws with 1:47 to go while his Spurs clung to a one-point lead.<\/p>\n

Wembanyama \u2014 the NBA\u2019s unanimous Defensive Player of the Year and the third-place finisher in MVP voting \u2014 heard boos throughout Games 3 and 4 at the Garden, with his Game 3 shove of Jalen Brunson<\/a> being a particular point of contention.<\/p>\n

The NBA said it missed a foul call on that shove, but Wembanyama did pick up a flagrant 1 foul in Game 4 when his elbow caught the chin of Karl-Anthony Towns with 9:27 left in the third quarter. The Spurs led, 81-52, at that point, but the Knicks outscored San Antonio 55-25 from there, including a 13-0 run that immediately followed the foul.<\/p>\n
