A former morning show anchor in Missouri allegedly stabbed her elderly mother to death on Halloween, then told dispatchers she did it \u201cto save herself,\u201d local outlets reported.<\/p>\n

Neighbors in the quaint neighborhood in Wichita, Kansas said that they were traumatized after Angelynn Mock, 47, staggered out of a home shortly before 8 a.m. Friday while soaked in blood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere was a woman who approached our vehicle with like blood, like her hands were filled, her body was filled with blood, asking to call 911,\u201d Alyssa Castro, who lives in the neighborhood, told KAKE<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

Castro told the outlet that Mock took her phone and bolted back inside the house, where she called authorities and allegedly claimed she \u201cstabbed [her] mother to save herself,\u201d Sedgwick County dispatchers told the outlet.<\/p>\n

When authorities with the Wichita Police Department arrived, Mock was waiting outside with a series of bloody cuts on her hands. <\/p>\n

Mock\u2019s mother, 80-year-old Anita Avers, was found \u201cunresponsive in her bed with multiple stab wounds.\u201d She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died just 30 minutes later, according to the police department<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mock was swiftly taken into custody and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail for first-degree murder, where she is being held on a $1 million bond, according to the county\u2019s sheriff office<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Police eventually gave Castro\u2019s boyfriend his phone back. Castro, though, was just grateful they \u201cwere able to help.\u201d <\/p>\n

\u201cLike, we never know what anyone is going through. This happened randomly, but as long as we were able to get 911 and see what we can do, that\u2019s all I really care about,\u201d she told KAKE.<\/p>\n

Mock used to be a morning news anchor at KTVI Fox 2 in St. Louis. Fox 2<\/p>\n

Avers was a marriage and family therapist at Wichita Counseling Professionals, her husband confirmed to the outlet.<\/p>\n

Mock worked at KTVI Fox 2 as a morning and evening fill-in anchor from 2011 to 2015, according to her LinkedIn. <\/p>\n
