{"id":266706,"date":"2026-06-14T20:19:45","date_gmt":"2026-06-14T20:19:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/266706\/"},"modified":"2026-06-14T20:19:45","modified_gmt":"2026-06-14T20:19:45","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-power-politics-early-voting-begins-as-candidates-from-ny-district-10-and-assembly-district-82-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/266706\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | Power Politics Early Voting Begins As Candidates From Ny District 10 And Assembly District 82 Campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">New York City now has a new criminal justice coordinator.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Justine Olderman will oversee the daily operations of the Mayor\u2019s Office of Criminal Justice.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">After working with the Bronx Defenders, Olderman steps into a new role working with prosecutors, defense attorneys, courts and corrections to help reduce incarceration and improve public safety.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Early voting is now underway for New York\u2019s primary elections.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">News 12 is watching a number of contentious races in our boroughs \u2013 particularly in the 10th Congressional District and the 82nd Assembly District.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">New York\u2019s 10th Congressional District includes part of Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is the territory currently represented by Democratic Rep. Dan Goldman. He faces Brad Lander, a former mayoral candidate and city comptroller. Lander has the endorsement of Mayor Zohran Mamdani.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The race for New York\u2019s 82nd Assembly District is underway in the Bronx. It stretches from Co-op City to Locust Point. The district has been represented for 20 years by incumbent Michael Benedetto. He is now facing challengers Jake Kuhl and Felix Omozusi.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Primary Election Day is June 23.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"New York City now has a new criminal justice coordinator.
