(WBNG) &#8212; The New York Knicks were crowned NBA champions for the first time since 1973 on June 13.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">For many fans, the Kicks\u2019 victory was nothing short of a miracle. Fans like Miguel Villanueva, a Vestal resident who grew up in Brooklyn, could hardly believe the team had won.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWhen it finally came into fruition, to be honest, I didn\u2019t know how to respond or react because it was something that was so out of reach for so many years. So, when it finally came, it was a dream come true,\u201d Villanueva said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">Fans all across New York City flooded the streets on Saturday night to celebrate the Knicks\u2019 victory, a team that has faced bad luck and mismanagement for over 50 years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201c[The scars are] not away&#8230; they\u2019re still there because there were moments that I will never forget. So, even though&#8230; like a scar, it heals, but it\u2019s still there. So, I still have the scars of those past times, but this win just helped those scars heal so much easier,\u201d Villanueva said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">A celebration parade for the Knicks will take place on Thursday, June 18, in New York City, where hundreds of thousands are expected to watch.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright 2026 WBNG.
