Christopher Jackson<\/a>, who was Tony-nominated for creating the role of George Washington in the Tony-winning musical\u00a0Hamilton<\/a>,\u00a0will return to that role in the Broadway hit this fall.<\/p>\n

The Grammy and Emmy-winning actor will again play America’s first president September 8, 2026-January 3, 2027, in the Lin-Manuel Miranda<\/a> musical at the Richard Rodgers Theatre.<\/p>\n

Jackson\u2019s return follows Hamilton\u2019s\u00a0ten-year anniversary celebration on Broadway and the earlier return of fellow original cast member, Tony winner Leslie Odom, Jr., last fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cReturning to\u00a0Hamilton as George Washington is a deeply meaningful homecoming,\u201d said Jackson in a statement. \u201cThis show changed my life, and it remains one of the great honors of my career to be part of telling this story. To step back into this room, with this company and this audience, is something I will never take for granted.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLin-Manuel wrote George Washington with Chris\u2019 gorgeous voice and musicality in his head,\u201d added\u00a0Hamilton\u00a0producer Jeffrey Seller<\/a>. \u201cHow lucky are we that we get to experience his George Washington one last time?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jackson originated the role of George Washington in Hamilton\u2019s Off-Broadway and Broadway productions, earning a Tony nomination for Best Featured Actor in a Musical. He also received a Grammy as a principal soloist on the Original Broadway Cast Recording.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Jackson is also a founding member of Freestyle Love Supreme. His Broadway credits include In the Heights<\/a>, The Lion King<\/a>, Memphis<\/a>, After Midnight, Bronx Bombers<\/a>, Holler If Ya Hear Me<\/a>, and Hell’s Kitchen<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n

On television, Jackson starred as Chunk Palmer on the CBS drama Bull\u00a0and has appeared in\u00a0And Just Like That\u2026,\u00a0When They See Us,\u00a0The Good Wife,\u00a0Person of Interest,\u00a0A Gifted Man, Nurse Jackie,\u00a0and more. His film credits include Hamilton on Disney+, In the Heights, Moana, Tracers, and Afterlife of the Party. As a songwriter and composer, Jackson won an Emmy for Outstanding Original Song for \u201cWhat I Am,\u201d written for Sesame Street with Bill Sherman<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Hamilton\u2014with a book and score by Miranda\u2014explores
\n the life of American Founding Father Alexander Hamilton. Inspired by
\nthe book “Alexander Hamilton” by Ron Chernow<\/a>, the musical incorporates
\nhistorical figures such as George Washington, Aaron Burr<\/a>, James Madison,
\n and Thomas Jefferson.<\/p>\n

Hamilton also has direction by Thomas Kail<\/a>,
\nchoreography by Andy Blankenbuehler<\/a>, musical supervision and
\norchestrations by Alex Lacamoire<\/a>, scenic design by David Korins<\/a>, costume
\n design by Paul Tazewell<\/a>, lighting design by Howell Binkley<\/a>, sound
\ndesign by Nevin Steinberg<\/a>, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe<\/a>,
\ncasting by The Telsey Office<\/a>‘s Bethany Knox, and general management by
\nBaseline Theatrical<\/a>.<\/p>\n

At the 70th Annual Tony Awards, Hamilton won 11 Tonys,
\nincluding Best Musical. The show went on to receive the Grammy Award,
\nOlivier Award, Pulitzer Prize for Drama, and a special citation from the
\n Kennedy Center Honors. <\/p>\n

Hamilton, which continues at Broadway’s Richard
\nRodgers Theatre, officially opened August 6, 2015, following previews
\nthat began July 13.<\/p>\n

The musical is produced by Seller, Sander Jacobs<\/a>, Jill Furman<\/a>, and The Public Theater<\/a>.<\/p>\n
