According to the NYPD, the latest new head of the recently implemented Patrol Borough Bronx North<\/a> is NYPD Assistant Chief Aneudy Castillo. Norwood News has asked the NYPD for a biography of Castillo and will share further details as they become available.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n At a street co-naming ceremony on Sept. 16, 2023, for the late NYPD Det. First Grade Jason Rivera, a rookie officer killed during a response to a domestic violence incident in Harlem on January 21, 2022, along with NYPD Det. First Grade Wilbert Mora, who also died, and Third Grade Det. Sumit Sulan, who was injured, then NYC Mayor Eric Adams said in part of Castillo, \u201cWe thank Inspector Anuedy Castillo and his team at the 34: NYDO, the DEA, PBA, the Department of Transportation, and all other city organizations and agencies and individuals involved in putting this event together.\u201d \u00a0<\/p>\n According to the NYPD, the 34th Precinct covers the communities of Washington Heights and Inwood in Northern Manhattan, north of West 179th Street, covering two square miles, with 500 acres of parkland, including Inwood Hill Park and Fort Tyron Park.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Meanwhile, the website 50-a.org, which compiles complaints of misconduct made against members of police departments, published details of an allegation made against Aneudy as of November 2010, along with the Civilian Complaints Review Board (CCRB) conclusion following their investigation into the complaint, which is outlined below. Meanwhile, the 115th Precinct serves a northern portion of Queens, encompassing Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst, and North Corona. The precinct patrol responsibilities also include LaGuardia Airport. According to the website, 50-a.org, Castillo commenced his service with the NYPD in July 2005.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Norwood News reached out to the CCRB for more information about the complaint and were provided with the above summary (CCRB NYPD Officer History).<\/p>\n As reported<\/a>, the former unified Patrol Borough Bronx had been broken down into two sections: Patrol and Detective. Under the Patrol section, there was a total of 114 employees made up of 102 uniformed personnel and 12 civilian employees, while under the Detective section, there was a total of 230 employees made up of 221 uniformed personnel and 9 civilian employees. This generated a total employee count of 344, made up of 323 uniformed personnel and 21 civilian employees.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As reported<\/a>, under the new Patrol Borough Bronx North (PBXN) structure and new Patrol Borough Bronx South (PBXN) structure will each\u00a0have the same number of employees. In\u00a0each new borough command, in the Patrol section, there will be a total of 111 employees, comprising 99 uniformed personnel and 12 civilian employees.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n Meanwhile, in the Detective section, in\u00a0each new borough command, there will be a total of 164 employees, comprising 154 uniformed personnel and 10 civilian employees. This means a total employee count in each new borough command of 275 employees, comprising 253 uniformed personnel and 22 civilian employees.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As reported<\/a>, after citywide crime statistics for May were recently released, Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch noted that overall citywide major crime is down, and the new Patrol Borough Bronx South command similarly saw a decrease in year-to-date index crimes in May. However, conversely, much of the Northwest Bronx, including the 52nd, 50th and 46th Precincts saw a rise in year-to-date crime in several major categories. As reported<\/a>, Norwood News asked the commissioner during a press conference held Monday, June 15, if she had any comments in that regard.<\/p>\n \u201cThe crime declines that we have seen generally, in the borough of the Bronx, particularly in the South Bronx, have really been historic across the borough so far this year,\u201d Tisch said in part. \u201cOf course, there are always going to be problem areas, problem precincts, and that\u2019s why we use the CompStat process (NYPD crime data collection tool), and we do deployments of officers to places where we\u2019re seeing crime go up.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>\n As reported<\/a>, the police commissioner had announced in May that NYPD Assistant Chief Benjamin D. Gurley would be overseeing Patrol Borough Bronx North (PBXN), while Assistant Chief Brian C.
