Justin Trudeau, prime minister of Canada from 2015 to 2025, will speak at Queens University of Charlotte this fall as part of a speaker series, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

Trudeau is expected to address the influences of technology and crises on community and democracy in a lecture<\/a> titled \u201cNavigating Change, Empowering Progress: A Roadmap for Leaders Committed to Community and Democracy.\u201d The lecture will take place in the Sarah Belk Gambrell Center for the Arts and Civic Engagement at 7 p.m. on October 27 as part of the Learning Society\u2019s<\/a> semiannual speaker series.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis experience navigating high-stakes international diplomacy and domestic challenges provides our students and the broader Charlotte community with a rare, first-hand perspective on the resilience required to lead during a time of unprecedented global challenges and change,\u201d said Jesse Cureton \u201902, acting president of Queens University of Charlotte.<\/a><\/p>\n

Over his 10 years, Trudeau, a leader of Canada\u2019s Liberal Party, guided the country through challenges including the COVID-19 pandemic, trade disputes with the U.S., its involvement in the invasion of Ukraine and received awards for his commitment to global change and environmental protection.<\/p>\n

Since 1988, the Learning Society, based at Queens, has brought speakers to Charlotte to share their experiences and perspectives. The organization seeks to connect \u201clifelong learners with the next generation of leaders,\u201d according to the release.<\/p>\n

Notable past speakers included Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and Steve Forbes. Venus Williams will speak at the organization\u2019s February event.<\/p>\n

Tickets will be available for purchase in August.<\/p>\n
