{"id":269015,"date":"2026-06-16T22:54:08","date_gmt":"2026-06-16T22:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/269015\/"},"modified":"2026-06-16T22:54:08","modified_gmt":"2026-06-16T22:54:08","slug":"news-12-brooklyn-tenants-complain-of-multiple-issues-at-flatlands-apartment-building","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-ny\/269015\/","title":{"rendered":"News 12 | Brooklyn | Tenants Complain Of Multiple Issues At Flatlands Apartment Building"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">A Flatlands woman says her mother\u2019s apartment building has become nearly unlivable after years of unresolved issues.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Marisol Anderson says tenants at 1155 East 35th St. have been dealing with a number of problems, including trash piling up outside, ceiling leaks, no hot water since December and a rodent infestation.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">Anderson says the issues began about three years ago after squatters moved into the building and it started receiving multiple violations.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">&#8220;We then found out that the landlord stopped paying the bills,&#8221; Anderson said on Tuesday. &#8220;He had stopped paying the property taxes. Everything. Water bill. He stopped paying the mortgage. Everything.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">She says tenants have repeatedly called 311 but feel like little has been done. Anderson has since created a TikTok page that documents the conditions in hopes of getting help.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">The city\u2019s Housing Preservation and Development website shows a number of open complaints for the building.<\/p>\n<p data-rich-text-paragraph=\"true\">News 12 reached out to HPD for comment and was still waiting for a response as of Tuesday evening.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A Flatlands woman says her mother\u2019s apartment building has become nearly unlivable after years of unresolved issues.
