This fall, Pelham Art Center invites the community to explore their creativity through an expanded lineup of educational programs featuring new mediums, teaching artists, and creative experiences. Beginning September 19, the Center will offer returning favorites alongside exciting new classes, workshops, and single-day camps for artists of all ages and skill levels\u2014from toddlers to adults.<\/p>\n

\u201cEach season gives us an opportunity to grow and evolve our programming in response to our community\u2019s interests,\u201d said Alex Martinez, Director of Education. \u201cThis fall, we\u2019re excited to introduce new classes, teaching artists, and creative experiences that invite students of all ages to explore different materials, build new skills, and engage with art in meaningful ways.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

This fall\u2019s workshops encourage creativity through a wide variety of seasonal and wellness-inspired experiences. Participants can create handmade holiday ornaments, wreaths, lanterns, and snowmen, or unwind during a day dedicated to self-care featuring yoga, mindfulness, art-making, a special cacao experience, and more. The beloved Art After Hours mystery workshop series also returns by popular demand, while new teaching artists introduce workshops in autumn floral design and neurographic drawing as a mindful approach to creative expression.<\/p>\n

When school is closed for single-day holidays, Pelham Art Center\u2019s popular youth camps will once again provide engaging programming from 9:00 am\u20132:00pm. Camps for children ages 3\u20137 focus on imaginative art-making and creative movement, while campers ages 8 and up can immerse themselves in digital arts. New this fall, students ages 9 and older can participate in day-long traditional art intensives featuring watercolor still-life painting and ceramic handbuilding.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ve added a wonderful selection of new classes for kids to explore this fall, alongside the tried-and-true favorites that our community loves. I look forward to the laughter, creativity, and energy that fill the Art Center each fall. Both youth and adult students can delve into traditional art forms, such as drawing, painting, ceramics, and collage, as well as contemporary offerings, including video game art, digital illustration, and Intro to DJing. Returning as well as new weekly classes will provide engaging, hands-on instruction for wider age ranges than in the Center\u2019s recent history. In addition to recurring classics for youth like mixed media art, comic design, and knitting, new and unique offerings include Illustrating Costume Designs, Crochet Owl Pillows, Still-Life Acrylic Painting and Drawing the Human Figure for pre-teens. Similarly, for adults, classes like Intro to Drawing and Digital Photography will return, while new highlights include highly sought-after adult fashion illustration, From Observation to Imagination, Knitting for All Levels, Foundational Drawing & Painting, Intuitive Collage, and Intro to Gouache.<\/p>\n

Thanks to generous funding from the Town of Pelham, ArtsWestchester\/Westchester Board of Legislators, New York State Council on the Arts, Uskali Scholarship Fund, The New Rochelle Campership Fund, Annual Fund, Benchmark Education, and Special Event donors, need-based full and partial scholarships are available for students of all ages. High school students seeking to advance their skills and build a strong college portfolio are encouraged to apply for the David Uskali Scholarship, designed to support artistic talent and development.
