Nearly 1.2 million people took part in early voting for the 2025 general elections in New York state, according to state Board of Elections numbers released Monday.<\/p>\n

A total of 1,187,545 state residents voted early between Oct. 25 and Nov. 2. The highest turnout day was the last day, on Sunday, Nov. 2 with 222,901 votes cast.<\/p>\n

About 735,317 early votes came from New York City voters, who are deciding the next mayor there in a high-profile race watched nationally. Outside of the city, 452,228 early votes were cast.<\/p>\n

In upstate’s more populous counties, 37,170 people voted early in Erie County; 31,174 voted early in Monroe County; 15,766 voted early in Albany County; and 17,218 voted early in Onondaga County.<\/p>\n

This year’s total is more than those who voted early in the last off-year election in 2023, when more than 231,000 people\u00a0voted early during the entire window it was available.<\/a><\/p>\n

Early voting first came into practice in New York in 2019.<\/p>\n

Voters can still cast ballots on Election Day, which is Tuesday.
