With major historic openings taking over New York City this year like the legendary Jacob Riis bathhouse<\/a> restoration and the David N. Strategically located on Exterior Street between East 144th and 146th Streets, the park represents a vital piece of the city\u2019s larger $194 million Lower Concourse Infrastructure Plan<\/a>\u2013a historic investment designed to make local streets safer, support mixed-income housing, and connect residents directly to the water.<\/p>\n

Before construction could even begin, crews had to completely clear underutilized industrial land, demolish old structures, and install massive utility upgrades (including brand-new water mains and sewers) to prepare the site for its green era.<\/p>\n

Now, the once-industrial stretch is being completely reborn into a vibrant public oasis.<\/p>\n
