I love ice cream. There, I said it. It\u2019s nice to finally get that off my chest. I don\u2019t care if there\u2019s a literal blizzard outside and it\u2019s negative-something degrees\u2014I eat ice cream any day, any time. One of my fondest ice cream-fueled childhood memories is stopping for Dairy Queen Blizzards on the way home from school with my mom. They were my favorite summer treat. Not quite a sundae, not really soft serve or hard ice cream. It\u2019s just. A Blizzard. The iconic summer staple is defined by its soft-but-still-thick texture and huge chunks of candy pieces. I couldn\u2019t conjure a better dessert in my wildest, sweetest dreams. On June 16th, Dairy Queen announced brand new Blizzard flavors, along with a host of other new Blizzards<\/a> that were already on the docket for the Summer of 2026. Dairy Queen, what did we do to deserve this?<\/p>\n

What Are DQ\u2019s New Blizzard Flavors?<\/p>\n

The dessert chain is rolling out three new Blizzrads, the first of which is Biscoff (you know, the cookies<\/a> you only really ever see on airplanes, for some reason). And yes, in true Blizzard fashion, it will have plenty of crunchy cookies swirled around in vanilla ice cream. Up next is a strawberry-mango mochi flavor\u2015sorry, I didn\u2019t realize DQ was a hipster Brooklyn dessert spot now\u2015which appears to have real, bona fide hunks of fruit. And last, we\u2019ll be treated to a Mexican-style hot chocolate Blizzard, courtesy of the Abuleita brand of cocoa mix. Although we can\u2019t say for sure, a comment on the Instagram post<\/a> that broke the news, seemingly from a DQ employee, alleges the new flavors will be out as soon as next week.<\/p>\n

The Blizzard Is Finally All Grown Up<\/p>\n

These new Blizzards definitely feel like they aim to please adults and I say it\u2019s about time, Dairy Queen. There\u2019s nothing objectively wrong with ice cream loaded up with chunks of Halloween candy, but in my golden years (30s) I prefer an ice cream treat that, well, tries a little harder.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Some comments on the Instagram post express remorse that the Biscoff Blizzard doesn\u2019t appear to contain cookie butter<\/a>, which\u2014for the uninitiated\u2014might as well be a Schedule 1 narcotic. Biscoff cookies are heavily associated with an iconic cookie butter flavor, so I\u2019m holding out hope that DQ doesn\u2019t disappoint. The fruity mochi flavor is a necessary addition to the Blizzard lineup, which needs more fruit, but I have mixed feelings about Mexican-style hot chocolate. I mean, I love a cinnamon-y hot chocolate\u2014when it\u2019s hot. And in liquid form. And it\u2019s snowing outside. It might take some convincing to get DQ fans on board with an ice cream that aims to mimic a warming winter drink, but I\u2019ll still be first in line to see how DQ does it.<\/p>\n
