BROOKLYN, N.Y. \u2013 Russell Cicerone and MD Myers scored first-half goals to lead the Tampa Bay Rowdies to a 2-0 victory against Brooklyn FC on Saturday night at Maimonides Park, extending Tampa Bay\u2019s lead at the top of the Eastern Conference to 10 points. <\/p>\n
The Rowdies had a pair of early chances by MD Myers that went off target, while BKFC\u2019s Juan Carlos Obregon Jr. had an effort blocked behind from inside the penalty area, but the visitors took the lead in the 29th minute when Dion Acoff retained possession after having an initial shot block and picked out Russell Cicerone with a cross from the right for a close-range header.<\/p>\n
The Rowdies doubled their advantage four minutes later when Myers converted from the penalty spot after he was ruled to have been brought down in the box after the visitors turned possession over in the attacking third. Obreg\u00f3n almost hit back immediately for Brooklyn, forcing a good save from distance by Tampa Bay goalkeeper Jahmali Waite, and the Jamaican shot-stopper was also called into action early in the second half to keep out a long-range effort by Thomas Vancaeyezeele. From there, though, while both sides had opportunities, the visitors were able to see out a bounce-back victory.<\/p>\n
